Privacy, Safety, & Billing

Effective date: November 9, 2025

Who we are: The Dust, LLC (β€œwe,” β€œus,” β€œour”) provides residential cleaning services in Michigan. This page explains how we handle personal information, how we protect clients and staff in the home, and how billing works.

1) Privacy Policy

Scope

This policy covers personal information we collect through our website, phone/text/email, scheduling tools, and during service visits. We may update this page; material changes will be dated above.

Information We Collect

  • Contact & household details: name, phone, email, address, preferred schedule, gate/entry instructions, pet notes, surface or product preferences.

  • Service records: dates, time spent, work notes, quality checks, and communications.

  • Payment information: handled by our third-party processor; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.

  • Website data: basic logs, cookies, and analytics (e.g., pages viewed, device/browser). See Cookies & Tracking below.

How We Use Information

  • Provide, schedule, and manage services; communicate about appointments and changes.

  • Process payments and send invoices/receipts.

  • Train staff, verify quality, and improve our operations.

  • Protect our company, clients, and staff; comply with law and enforce agreements.

Sharing Information

We share personal information only as needed to run our business:

  • Employees/contractors: access limited to the minimum necessary to perform work; all sign confidentiality agreements.

  • Service providers: e.g., scheduling, payment processing, email/SMS tools, IT/security. They may use data only to perform services for us.

  • Legal & safety: to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect rights, safety, and property.

  • Business changes: if we reorganize or sell assets, client information may transfer under the same protections.

Data Retention

We keep information only as long as needed for service, business records, legal or tax requirements, or to resolve disputes. When retention ends, we delete or de-identify data.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information (role-based access, staff training, limited use of entry details, and reputable third-party payment processing). No system is perfectly secure; risks remain whenever information is transmitted or stored.

Cookies & Tracking

  • Essential cookies: needed for the site and online scheduling.

  • Analytics cookies: used to understand site performance (non-essential).

  • Advertising/retargeting cookies: not used unless disclosed and enabled in a cookie banner.
Your browser may let you block cookies. If we deploy non-essential cookies, we will provide on-site controls to manage preferences.

Marketing Communications

You can opt out of marketing emails or texts at any time (unsubscribe links or replying STOP for SMS). Service-related notices (appointment changes, invoices) may still be sent.

Children’s Privacy

Our services and site are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

U.S. State Privacy Rights

Privacy rights vary by state (for example, access, deletion, correction, and opt-out rights). If you are a U.S. resident seeking to exercise a privacy right available in your state, contact us using the information below. We will verify your request and respond as required by law. We do not sell personal information.

Contact Us

Questions or requests about privacy: use our website contact form or the office phone number listed there, or email privacy@thedust.llc.

2) Safety & Confidentiality

(NDAs)

All employees and approved contractors sign confidentiality agreements. Information observed in the home (conversations, routines, possessions) is treated as confidential and used only to perform services.

Background Checks & Conduct

We conduct pre-employment background checks, confirm work authorization where required, and perform periodic re-screens, consistent with applicable law. We train teams on professional in-home conduct and respectful communication.

Access, Keys, and Codes

Provide only the access needed for a visit. Keys are labeled without addresses; codes are stored in restricted systems. Tell us promptly if access details change. We follow client alarm procedures provided to us.

In-Home Safety

To protect people and property:

  • No moving large appliances or heavy furniture; no work beyond step-stool height; no tasks that require professional trades.

  • We do not handle firearms, hazardous chemicals, infestations, human/animal waste, or other biohazards unless arranged in writing.

  • Secure pets before arrival; let us know about skittish animals or restricted areas.

  • Please disclose fragile items or surfaces and product sensitivities; we follow your instructions where feasible.

Cameras & Recording

For everyone’s comfort, please inform us if interior cameras are active. Cameras are not permitted in bathrooms or other private areas while we are present.

Non-Solicitation

To protect our training investment and scheduling commitments, clients agree not to directly hire our staff for residential cleaning during services and for 12 months after the last visit without our written consent. (Your service agreement may provide additional terms.)

3) Billing & Service Terms (Key Points)

Quotes & Scheduling

Estimates are based on the information you provide and our professional judgment. If the home’s condition or scope differs materially on arrival, we will confirm options before proceeding.

Payment Timing

Payment is due after service. Charges are processed by our office through our payment processor; field staff do not collect payments. A card on file may be required to reserve or continue recurring service. Receipts are emailed.

Cancellations & Lockouts

Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Same-day cancellations, missed appointments, or lockouts may incur a fee to cover reserved crew time.

Satisfaction

If something was missed, tell us within 24 hours. We will return to address reasonable concerns promptly. Refunds are uncommon and evaluated case-by-case.

Breakage or Damage

Report issues within 24 hours. Our responsibility is limited to repair or replacement at our option, considering depreciation and availability. We are not responsible for pre-existing wear, improper installation, unstable fixtures, or items not disclosed as fragile.

Tips

Gratuities are never expected. If you choose to tip, it goes 100% to the team.

Chargebacks & Delinquency

Unpaid balances may incur late fees or collection activity as permitted by law. We reserve the right to suspend service for non-payment.

4) Changes

We may update these policies to reflect operational, legal, or security changes. Updates will be posted with a new effective date.
